Weekend update

Posted on 2006.11.21 at 16:30
I saw Visigoth on Friday. He and a friend came to a braai at our place. I have not seen him in ages and it was great to see him again. We all laughed ourselves half silly and gave him waaaay to much of a hard time for all the time he is spending working. He has promised to invite us for dinner and try not to poison us. He might have mentioned take out. Our dear bachelor friend.

Saturday we had the James Bond party. It was a huge success. Everyone had a good time and no huge issues or fights erupted. We all looked hysterical. I will post some pics as soon as I lay my hands on them.

I am coming down to PE on Friday. I am really looking forward to being in the Eastern Cape and I am quite disappointed that it is going to be for suh a short while. I would have loved to come visit everyone.

Is there anybody out there??

Sorry!! I am bad!

Tomorrow I have been in JHB for exactly two months. It is really hard to believe it has been such a short time. I don't feel like I have any news. Really feel like I am still trying to find my feet. Mike and I have spent most of our free time and cash on the house. We have painted the lounge and the bedroom and put in blinds and new bedroom curtains and we have even ordered a new couch. We have also removed four trailer loads of garden refuse and there is still more to go. As you can guess we are poor and sick of gardening.

Mike has been writing exams and finally finished yesterday. It is going to be great to have my boyfriend back. I have really been missing him.

In addition to all the housy stuff there have also been weddings and birthdays and many people to see. I have been trying to find a weekend to see visigoth but realised yesterday that we are booked up till like after New Years.

I have been adoped by a cat. I decided to name him Cameo (better than Slut which Mike suggested - something about one night stands). He is a beautiful grey cat with blue eyes and I love him. Except when he wakes me up at 5:30 for breakfast.

We are having a James Bond party next weekend for Mike's birthday / end of the year bash. It should be great fun. Everyone has to dress up as a special agent or a super hero or anything they like really. After much thought I decided to go as Devil Woman instead of BONDage girl as previously threatened. There is little difference between going as a bond girl and BONDage girl.

My brother and his wife had a brand new baby boy not too long ago. I will be coming down to PE on the weekend of the 24th to meet the new addition to the family. Jade (my niece) has made it very clear that I will be taking her shopping. It was actually very sweet. I phoned Charmaine (my sister in law) to find out what zi should bring for Jade. Eventually I decided that I would just take her a sweet and then we could go shopping and she could choose her own gift. Jade (it is important to explain that she is 2 1/2years old)overheard our conversation and asked to speak to me. all she could say over the phone was that she was going shopping with me. One of those heart melting moments that makes me want to have kids immediately and worry about the consequences later. Not going to happen - don't worry. Although my mother would be quite pleased.

One week gone

Posted on 2006.09.22 at 16:10
I have survived my first week and actually enjoyed it. I am working hard and enjoying it. I can see birds and trees out of my window. well not really my window. I have a cubicle in a large open plan office. My cubicle is the one right at the window. Very cool!!

I am soooo tired. But in a good way if you know what I mean. I am not emotionally exhausted but exhausted in a kind of recovery way. I am feeling a lot better than I have in a while.

How cool is it to end my first week of work with a payday and a long weekend. Pretty smart!! Mike and I are going to a charity sundown show tonight. I have no idea what that is. Our friend Greg's parents booked a table. Now Greg is working tonight and we are going to the sundown show. I am not sure whether I should be afraid. Well at least it is for charity. Saturday has been set aside for vegging and Sunday we are going hiking in a sanctuary.

Yay!! a normal life at last.

My first day

Posted on 2006.09.18 at 16:22
I am 8 minutes away from the end of my very first day at my brand new job. I really hope that i am not going to get my internet access revoked for posting this. I received a whole pile of paperwork to sign this morning and a huge book full of policies and helpful info for new staff. I have no idea what kind of promises I have made.

All I can say so far is that I feel comfortable. I am not trying to blend into the wall and vanish. A very good start I think. My boss and the other staff seem very nice and helpful. My boss has actually developed an entire initiation programme with me that is made up of various tasks to ease me into the organisation and familiarise me with the post. I like that!! I huge change from anything I have experienced in the past.

Anyways.

Nine Days

Current Mood: anxious
I need to leave now!!

I started off all excited and happy about my move and as time has passed I have become panicky and anxious and sick to the stomach feeling. Nine days is a very long time and not nearly soon enough. Feels like I have managed to out run the monster for the last two years and now that I will nearly be rid of it for good it is catching up with me.

Nine days gives it loads of time to get me.

I feel like crap!

Posted on 2006.08.31 at 08:46
I have 16 days left in Grahamstown and I feel like crap. I went for drinks after work and then had a girls night. And let me tell you that this whole "you are leaving soon and need to enjoy yourself" thing is not nearly as much fun as it sounds. I think I may have had nearly three bottles of wine. I know I had enough so that I did not wake up in the middle of the night to drink water.
Eewwwwwww!! Not good!

Please feel sorry for me.

Weekend!

Posted on 2006.08.25 at 09:35
It is friday! I am off to PE for the weekend. Mike is down from JHB for the weekend, sister-in-law's stork party and trying to get my car cleaned and sorted so I can hand it over to the new owner on Monday.

When I change things I don't mess about :). I am getting a new job, a new house, a new town to live in, new friends and a new car. Think I will have to keep my old boyfriend though.

Have good weekends!!

Life after Grey's Anatomy?

Posted on 2006.08.23 at 09:10
I really need to know - is there life after Grey's Anatomy??

I recently received the first two series from a friend. I have watched all the way to episode 22 in series two (mostly in one day). I have fobbed off friends and locked myself into my flat. Starting to sound a bit like the criteria for addiction in the DSM V - I am a Grey's junkie!!

But seriously, Grey's is cathartic. It lets you cry for other people instead of yourself.

I am going to try watch the rest of it today so that I can have my life back.

What's up with Kinshasa?

Posted on 2006.08.22 at 09:11
I don't get it. In the first stage of elections Kabila beat Bembe out right but they have to go to second stage to determine the winner or new leader or whatever.

Ok so if Kabila is probably going to win in October why is he or at least his supporters taking over airports and driving tanks onto Bembe's property and ramming his house.

Am I missing something??

Ok so I have finally thrown caution to the wind and decided to follow my heart. Let me tell you it is a lot more scary than it sounds and a lot less glamorous than they make it look in Hollywood. On 15 September I will be leaving my sleepy little hollow in Grahamstown and venturing out into the vast terrifying Johannesburg. Like I said I am following my heart. I have promised myself on many occasions that I would never be one of those women that give up everything in pursuit of a man.
Well I am one of those women!! I have tried to convince myself that it is a completely rational move based on what is best for my career etc, etc.

I think I need to look at this in a different light. I am not a pathetic woman that can't live without a man. I am a woman who is brave enough to follow her heart. Wow! Is that denial or what??
